Reviving the Art of Online Conversation

In an era dominated by fast-paced social media exchanges and increasingly segmented online communities, the concept of genuine, real-time interaction with strangers has become a rarity. This nostalgia for the bygone days of Internet Relay Chat (IRC) rooms, where people from all corners of the globe could come together to share ideas, experiences, and laughter, sparked the creation of Fluo.chat. Founded by a team of past-time IRC enthusiasts, Fluo.chat aims to recapture the essence of those vibrant online meeting places and adapt it for the modern digital landscape.

Our journey began with a simple question: What if we could recreate the atmosphere of IRC channels but with a modern twist? We envisioned a platform that not only facilitates real-time conversations but also enhances them with immersive, atmospheric elements. Fluo is not just an app; it’s a portal to different worlds. From the serene ambiance of a yoga room with relaxing music to the pulsating energy of a Tokyo club blasting techno, we’ve designed each space to simulate the feeling of going out and mingling with people who share similar interests.

The decision to limit the capacity of each virtual venue and organize conversations around smaller tables was deliberate. It addresses one of the main issues we encountered in traditional IRC rooms: the overwhelming flood of messages that made meaningful interaction nearly impossible. By setting these boundaries, we ensure that conversations remain manageable and engaging, allowing users to truly connect with one another.

P.S email fluo@protonmail.com and tell us what venue you would like to hang out with your friends and we will create it!
